①expect+名词(短语)
He wasn't expecting a visitor.他没想到会有人来。
We are expecting a rise in food prices this month. 我们预计这个月食物价格会上涨。
②expect (sb/sth) to do
Please don't expect to learn a foreign language in a few months.
请不要指望在几个月内学会一门外语。
I didn't expect her to come so early.我没想到她来得这么早。
③except+that从句
Many people were expecting that the meeting would be put off.许多人预料会议将被推迟。
We expect that he will refuse to attend the meeting.我们预计他会拒绝参加会议。
注意:如果宾语从句是否定句,常使用否定转移。
I didn't expect they finished the work on time.我没想到他们按时完成了工作。
